Village Communities Centering on Water in the Context of Rural Urbanization: A Case Study of Two#br# Villages in South and North China

Abstract: The paper studies two villages with different water resources, Hongshan village in Jiexiu, Shanxi, and Shangyanpingzhai
village in Tongdao, Hunan. Based on the research background and theoretical guidance of rural urbanization, and taking water as the
entry point, the paper analyzes the changes in water resources and village situations under the background of rural urbanization. The
common characteristics, dilemmas and solutions of the villages before and after rural urbanization are discussed. It is shown that the
village communities have the ability of "resilience" and have the "wisdom of survival" and "social intension" which enable them for
endogenous development even when coerced by the progress of rural urbanization.
